Product Safety Technician - Rochester, NY


 We are looking for a Product Safety Technician for our Quality Assurance team to be responsible for supporting the Rochester Laboratory in a manufacturing setting. This includes routine Environmental testing, Raw Material Verification and supporting site Pre-requisite programs.

 

The responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

 

  • Participate in the maintenance of the quality and food safety documentation system.
  • Perform production room pre-operational inspections and sanitation verification.
  • Performs verification activities related to production staging of raw materials including but not limited to, material verification and SAP transaction verification for traceability. 
  • Acts as a facilitator/coach on the production floor to highlight and address Good Manufacturing Best practices.
  • Performs environmental sampling of the facilities following established Quality Protocols
  • Participates on the Food Safety team.
  • Assists Quality Assurance Team by being responsive to any problem relative to the Food Safety Management System by acting quickly and efficiently alleviating difficulties as necessary.
  • Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practices for the care, handling and storage of food products; report any known or observed violations to management. Utilize HACCP philosophy and procedures in everyday work routine. 
  • Support the implementation of Dietary Supplement certification.
  • Adhering to all quality systems including ISO 20000 Food Safety, FAMI-QS and NSF Dietary Supplements.
  • Acts in compliance with all company policies including, but not limited to: Quality, Safety, Food/Feed Safety, Environmental, GMPs, Dietary Supplements and HACCP-HARPC.

 

You are a qualified candidate if:
        

  • You have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in biology or microbiology, chemistry (or equivalent) and at least 3-5 years related work experience.
  • You have experience in document review and document control management.
  • You have strong computer skills (required); proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • You have experience in a manufacturing facility with some fundamental knowledge of Quality Assurance (preferred)
  • You have good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • You have strong computer skills (required) with SAP knowledge (preferred)
  • You have a good work ethic with high work standards.
  • You have excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and plan responsibilities to meet customers’ needs.
  • You have strong teamwork and interpersonal skills to work with a very interactive and self-directed work team.
  • You have working knowledge of SharePoint (preferred)
     


Hourly Rate Range - $24.50/hr. - 26.00/hr. 

New hires for this position also receive a sign on bonus of $1,000!
