Job Description

In partnership with internal clients, the Manager, Learning and Organizational Development, North America plans and implements a holistic talent development and organizational effectiveness strategy that aligns to business needs.

The scope of the role encompasses two main areas: Regional and Global.  The Regional responsibility takes primacy, supporting all IFF businesses and functional groups across North America; supporting talent development programs, to include individual and team assessments for the purpose of development; supporting the development and facilitation of internal IFF leadership and management courses; and managing the Integrated Talent Review program.  Global responsibilities include consultative support to the L&OD COE for company-wide initiatives. 


Focusing on Regional North American responsibilities, this person provides individual and group-oriented learning solutions, assessments and interventions, and organization design solutions to help the organization align to its strategic objectives.  That alignment is further achieved by providing internal consultation on long-term talent management and organizational design initiatives.

Requiring a background with rich learning and organizational development experiences, this role is also responsible for designing and deploying regional organizational development programs to improve organization effectiveness. While managing L&OD issues in North America, this person must also work collaboratively across HR and the business to support IFF business strategies.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Assess, plan and implement learning and organization development strategies to meet needs within North America.
  • Partner with HR and the business leaders to understand the North America business strategy
  • Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners to identify regional learning and organization development requirements
  • Design a learning and organization development strategy to improve individual and organizational performance across North America
  • Conduct organizational development projects
  • Deploy leadership development programs and organizational solutions regionally; teach leadership programs as required
  • Develop methods and metrics to evaluate program effectiveness
  • Ensure regional development is aligned to the overall business objectives
  • Participate in integration work associated with corporate actions, including mergers and acquisitions
  • Manage the individual and team assessment program; develop and refine regional governance, management of processes and procedures, and support to HR business partners at all levels.
  • Manage the Integrated Talent Review process in North America; ensure adequate governance and reporting procedures.
  • Actively support global leadership and management training initiatives.  This includes supporting internal IFF leadership curriculum and content, and leading training sessions for those courses that are conducted for employees in North America.

Job Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Organizational Psychology, HR Business Management, or other related fields. An advanced degree in Organizational Psychology is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in learning and development (including leadership development); 5+ years of experience in OD and Change Management is preferred.
  • The ability to think strategically as well as manage the hands-on execution of projects and programs.
  • Strong analytical and consulting skills.
  • Proven success in managing and implementing leadership development programs or other employee development assessments.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and excellent presentation skills are required.
