Process engineer (m/f)

IFF Brugge (also known as “De Gistfabriek”) is a food company located in the center of historic Bruges and produces enzymes. IFF Brugge is part of the listed company IFF (www.iff.com ). Our enzymes are used in beer, bread, animal feed, bio-fuels, textiles, detergents, etc.

 

Producing enzymes is a high-tech and complex biochemical process. We are proud of our specialist knowledge on site.

 

To support our growth, we are looking for a process engineer (m/f):

 

You look for continuous improvement in our production department and you support the manufacturing technology leader in researching, writing and implementing improvement projects. In addition, the focus in this role is mainly to monitor the production process as well as to give support to operators.

Responsibilities

• A day to day (pro-)active role in monitoring & guiding the production processes to meet the technical standards.

•Calculate & define objectives (production cost, capacity, quality, etc.) based on established recipes and process production parameters.

• Formulate improvement proposals, and/or a business case.

• Involvement in R&D projects, ie in upscaling. You proactively maintain contacts with colleagues at other production locations.

• Responsibility while implementing approved projects, often in a multi-disciplinary team

• Provide insight & knowledge transfer on production processes among your colleagues.

• Contribute to the development, strengthening & maintenance of our (food/environmental/safety culture. Participate in audits.

Profile

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​• You have received training as a bio-engineer, industrial sciences engineer or civil engineer with 2-3 years of relevant experience in the process industry.

• You are very analytical and able to process data (statistics / Excel).

• Knowledge & experience in project management.

•  Collaboration, communication and networking are key to the role.

• Able to organize own objectives and work accordingly.

• In a matrix organization you work independently, but you continuously align your actions with the site goals.

• As a proactive worker you consider continuous improvement to be the essence of your role.

• You help to strengthen our safety culture (food, environment, safety).

• You have a strong interest in automation and process control.

• Experience with fermentation technology is a plus

• In addition to the Dutch language, you are also fluent in English (written & spoken).
