Customer Sampling Laboratory Operations Manager

Responsibilities

In the role of Customer Sampling Laboratory  Operations Manager you are responsible for developing and driving the neat oil production and sampling for both IFF internal and external customers. You oversee the daily activities of the Customer Sampling Laboratory, in the respect of Quality and deadlines.

The position reports to the Technical Operations Director and is based in the Neuilly sur Seine Creative Center.

You will also develop and implement new processes, improve performance of existing ones and provide engineering support to the Creative Center sample laboratory. This will include process design, gathering and analyzing data, troubleshooting issues and identifying root causes.

As team leader, your management will go through people leveraging and skills management.

In collaboration with the Technical Operations Director, the CSL Manager is also responsible for developing new capabilities within the Global Sampling team to drive sampling innovation and efficiency in line with our strategic objectives to support the business.

As business partner, your objectives will be to gain efficiency through upgraded processes and cost management

Job Description

Attached to the Operations Technical Directory you will be in charge of the following activities:

 

OPERATIONS & TECHNICAL

  • Organize and manage day to day workflow for Customer Sampling Laboratory, Stock and Robot team.
  • Improve continuously CSL procedures and systems to deliver differentiated IFF’s quality product offering and drive cost efficiency.
  • Roll out Sampling SAP reporting on Neuilly production and provide relevant data analysis and KPI to the local Management.
  • Lead technical key projects for IFF Neuilly as new robot implementation planned for Neuilly
  • Apply engineering and technical skills in creative Operational processes.
  • Develop and optimize process strategies to achieve business needs.

 

TALENT MANAGEMENT 

  • Manage and inspire a team of 13 persons in both laboratory and production environment.
  • Develop a workforce plan for the individual development of Neuilly Sampling team through recruitment, training and succession planning, in relation with HR team.
  • Optimize team performance through excellent leadership, stretching goal setting and development.

 

LABORATORY MANAGEMENT

  • Be a partner for the business in relation with Sales team and particularly Sales Support.
  • Build network and productive exchanges with local Operations Managers and with other CSL Managers in other Creative Centers to leverage IFF workflows and align IFF Fragrance Operations processes.
  • Manage daily Laboratory supplies respecting cost efficiency and operating budget.
  • Manage in line with IFF’s Sustainability Vision and according to Good Laboratory Practices

Job Requirements

  • You have a Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in an international environment.
  • You have a Bachelor degree in Chemistry and/or Engineering.
  • The preferred candidate will have process engineering experience in Fragrance industry or in chemical, pharmaceutical or other comparable industry.
  • The preferred candidate will have a strong operations understanding from plant or lab environment 
  • Detailed business knowledge of sampling systems, processes and hardware.
