International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) has an opening for a Maintenance Coordinator at our Dayton, NJ site. The Maintenance Coordinator directs maintenance work to coincide with the priorities and objectives of operations and ultimately the business, in order to achieve safety, equipment uptime, product quality and cost targets.  The coordinator is responsible for overall coordination of equipment maintenance including: weekly schedule development, work notification gatekeeping, backlog management, equipment preparation, and turnaround management (including planning, scheduling, and resource loading).  The Maintenance Coordinator must be willing to work flexible hours when needed (extended hours expected during turnaround situations).

  • Reviewing notifications and making a preliminary assessment on value (gatekeeping). Following up with notification submitters if clarification is needed. Assessing criticality and assigning revisions to communicate timing and ownership for next steps of completing maintenance work.
  • Working closely with maintenance and operations to develop the weekly maintenance schedule and the daily plan used to accomplish the schedule.
  • Ensuring that equipment preparation requirements are communicated to operations and completed as required to ensure efficient maintenance work
  • Identifying emergency work orders and funnels to appropriate personnel to adjust the planned work schedule to minimize upset to planned work and ensure highest priority work is completed. Pulls in other RTS work when doing emergency jobs to minimize need for additional downtime.
  • Monitoring backlog of maintenance work and initiates adjustments to ensure work is completed in a timely way.  Ensures that any canceled work orders are removed from the system. Identifies work orders requiring engineering support and works with capital and engineering teams to manage this backlog.
  • Ensuring critical safety/quality inspections & tests are completed on-time with a “ZERO overdue” commitment.
  • Maintaining KPIs and schedules periodic reviews of maintenance performance metrics and works to ensure goals are achieved.  
  • Coordinating PM turnarounds and shutdowns. Initiates and leads shutdown scope development meetings and assumes role of overall turnaround manager to ensure resource loaded schedules are developed and clear ownership of jobs is understood.  
  • Initiating and leading post-turnaround/shutdown performance review meetings to identify improvement opportunities.  
  • Monitoring efficient use of maintenance resources, particularly shift maintenance personnel, aligning “ready work” to effectively load these resources during shifts with lighter emergency work needs.  
  • Ensuring that critical spare parts are rebuilt in a timely way and available for use when needed. 
  • Monitoring maintenance, construction and contractor cost performance.  Identifies opportunities and implements steps to reduce costs.
  • Identifying equipment reliability issues and works with reliability engineer and reliability technicians to improve performance. 
  • Assisting with continued development and implementation of maintenance work management system.
     

Job Requirements

 

  • B.S. Degree in a technical field preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation components 
  • Experience working in Maintenance/Facilities in the Manufacturing industry

  • Demonstrated ability to use electronic information systems, including personal computers and spreadsheet applications
  • Experience with SAP, MS Excel, MS Word, and similar office applications
  • Six sigma greenbelt or blackbelt certification preferred
