We currently have the following exciting opportunity for a Junior Process Control Engineer to join our Engineering team based at our manufacturing plant in Haverhill, Suffolk.

 

Position Overview:


To write and maintain Control System recipes for our chemical processes and provide support to Fragrance Ingredients Operations as detailed below.

 

Main Duties Include: 

 

•    Write/update Control System recipes as required and support instrument Technician to troubleshoot issues related to process control computers and interfaces.  
•    Liaise with Corporate Engineering regarding Control System/Computer updates.
•    Definition and development of process Control Narratives towards recognized Industry Standards. Control Narratives to be developed from plant FORTRAN programming language.
•    Reading, Understand P&IDs, Control Narratives, Logic diagrams, etc.
•    Responsible for aligning to specific standards and producing additional project documents as required.
•    Gain a good understanding of the bespoke control system CDAS during transition to new PCS7 system.
•    Maintain a prioritized work list for process automation improvements.
•    Assure safe and Event-free implementation of process automation projects.
•    Identify process automation improvement opportunities and provide value assessments and prioritization.
•    Support operational teams in the Design and development of creative and effective process control strategies to optimize plant operations.
•    Drive continuous improvement of process automation performance metrics including alarm management, manual intervention reduction, and Safety Instrumented System trips.
•    Work with peers in the technology group to share knowledge and ideas.
•    Maintain all process information systems / historian (MES) site-specific applications for the plant and develop new applications for MES / Process Information.

Job Requirements

 

Required Skills:


•    Degree in Engineering: Chemical, Process, Automation, Electrical or Control Systems.

 

 

Desirable Skills/Experience


•    Experience in process chemistry, manufacturing environment.
•    Experience in chemical manufacturing industry, to include distillation theory and practice.
•    Experience of Computer Control strategies including Siemens programming and hardware.
•    Fully conversant with EH&S regulations ideally on COMAH Top Tier site.
•    Experience of FORTRAN, C#, C++, Java or similar high-level computer programming languages. 
•    Experience with at least one of the following programming language standards (as per standard  IEC 61131-3): Ladder diagram (LD), Function block diagram (FBD), Structured text (ST), Instruction list (IL), Sequential function chart (SFC).
•    Experience of field instrumentation, PLC, SCADA.
•    Experience with network architecture and troubleshooting.
