We currently have a full time opportunity available within our Beverage department based in Haverhill, Suffolk:

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a highly experienced and creative beverage development team in a demanding, fast moving but rewarding category.
As an application technologist your role is to support the profitable growth of the IFF UK Flavours Team by taking ownership of projects that demonstrate our flavours in high quality commercially scalable applications in the Beverage segment.
An important part of this role is to support the commercial team by identifying customer needs and opportunities, whilst establishing key technical to technical relationships with customers.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities Include: 

 

The formulation of finished prototypes should take into account market knowledge, regulatory guidelines, cost parameters, processing requirements and other specifications as outlined in customer briefs. You will be responsible for developing new product formulae, applying flavours in base and producing prototypes in the laboratory, conferring with the Sales and Technical teams to meet our customers’ needs. In addition, regional category initiatives will require support. Key tasks include:

 

• Manage customer briefs to create business opportunities

• Develop new innovative products to meet conceptual briefs, compliant with regulatory requirements, within cost parameters, stability tested and suitable for mainstream production

• Support the commercial team to contribute to the growth of our business, taking a creative and strategic approach to brief execution and contributing to brainstorming sessions and account strategy planning as required

• Foster team work, demonstrating leadership as needed, establishing solid working relationships across all disciplines (sales, customer services, marketing, sensory and consumer insights)

• Adhere to agreed timelines, communicate effectively and plan projects thoroughly

• Demonstrate proficient use of IFF IT systems, accurately recording data using these applications.

• Maintain accurate and retrievable records of all formulae sent to clients in global database
 
• Endeavour to keep up-to-date with technical advances and innovations related to application areas of expertise through supplier contacts, technical literature and industry networking

• Participate in tasting sessions and develop expertise and proficiency in the organoleptic evaluation of flavours

• Identify, implement and manage continuous improvement of processes and ways of working

• About 25% travel is required for this role

 

 

Required Experience:

 

BSc Degree in Food Science/Food Technology or related field
Prior experience in food/beverage product development
Industrial beverage manufacturing experience would be a distinct advantage

 

Required Skills:

 

The successful candidate will be creative, a self-starter with good time management, excellent numerical, planning and decision making skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation, influencing and interpersonal skills are also important required skills for this role. Coupled with the ability to anticipate customer needs, be an effective team player and computer literate.
