The Role

 


As an Associate Scientist in Value-to-Market (V2M) team within the Scent Technology and Innovation department, you will work together with Perfumers, Commercial and Operations teams to build technical & consumer insight, create and deliver innovative technologies and optimum scent solutions to our customers in Home & Fabric category.

 


You will be responsible for providing the required technical support to V2M projects, commercial & customer requests and driving short term innovations answering the consumer needs. As pro-active lead and in close collaboration with other teams, such as commercial and Scent Design Managers and perfumers, you will define the optimum test set-up, execute, and translate the learnings into insights and recommendations to the relevant team. 

 


Major Responsibilities Include:

 

 

• Drive the V2M technical support & bring the business relevant solutions to answer commercials and customers’ needs, including trouble shooting on fragrance applications, support claims, promoting IFF technologies etc ;
• Define the optimum tests, execute, and reporting. Translating the learnings into recommendation for the creation of scent solution ;
• Support the innovation deployment to internal and external stakeholders/customers ;
• Conceive, design technical studies, conduct simple patent search to build understanding on Home and Fabric Care product formulations and ingredients ;
• Pro-actively react to the trends and customer & consumer needs bringing new opportunities ;
• Participate in customer meetings, present results and technical insights, and promote IFF scent solutions ;
• Participate in fragrance evaluation panels ;
• Follow safe laboratory practices.

Required Skills

 


• Result driven and proven track record in problem solving
• Comfortable with ambiguity and has a solutions-focused approach. (Flexible & Agile, Hands-on mentality)
• Excellent presentation, interpersonal communication and writing skills.
• Design of experiment (DoE)
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams either as a team member or project lead
• Efficient planning and project management skills
• Experience in product application/development
• Experience working in fragrance/flavor or fast-moving consumer goods industry 
• Knowledgeable in lab safety, relevant application, raw materials and chemical processes
• Broad chemistry knowledge (organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, colloid chemistry, surfactants, rheology, etc.)
• Fluent in English (both verbal and written)

 


Preferred Skills

 


• Knowledge on consumer good formulations, polymer, surfactant
• Good olfactory evaluation skills 
• IP Knowledge

 


Required Experience

 


• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science & Technology, Chemical engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in the chemical, consumer goods or fragrance industry.
• Proven track record in problem solving.
