We are now seeking a motivated and result driven talent to join our Scent division as Scent Design Manager for the fabric care category. As a Scent Design Manager, you are skilled at executing customer strategy, showing proficiency in IFF capabilities. You are able to co-develop with global teams, creating new features while addressing customer’s needs. 

The candidate will directly report to the Fabric Care Scent Design Group Director and will be based at the Scent Creative Center in Hilversum, The Netherlands.  

 

Key responsibilities
•    Creative lead on global customer projects to develop and implement innovative fragrance development strategies: 

  • Connect market, customer and consumer needs to identify, develop and/or recommend competitive product solutions to drive business results
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (perfumers, technical, CI/marketing) to uncover challenges and opportunities and develop new fragrance solutions and capabilities
  • Develop creative strategies according to Holistic Scent Design principles
  • Consumer Insights strategy: define what to learn from consumers to gain competitive advantage and build winning consumer relevant solutions

•    Manage the execution of the olfactive strategy by providing creative direction and olfactive guidance to perfumers in order to stimulate creative exploration and differentiation
•    Constantly listen to the voice of the customer and deliver above expectations
•    Create effective client need analysis
•    Establish and maintain effective relationships with (internal) stakeholders and gain their trust and respect
•    Create an environment that fosters continuous learning, along with regular coaching/development sessions for junior team members
•    Communicate and maintain awareness on market developments and competitive insights and actively share knowledge with other parts of the organization

Job Requirements

 

Required Skills: 
•    Excellent olfactive communication skills which supports the overall creative process – discriminate, describe (association) and odor memory 
•    Ability to effectively identify potential fragrance or technology solutions based on market relevance
•    Solid understanding of market/consumer trends and consumer behaviors/ preferences
•    Fragrance ingredient and technology understanding to facilitate communication with technical teams and perfumers
•    Basic technical understanding of fabric care formulations to apply to fragrance challenges and create solutions
•    Proficiency in data mining, analysis, insight generation and drawing conclusions
•    Ability to write reports independently, summarizing work done and recommendations on opportunities and potential next steps
•    Strong project management skills, disciplined and process oriented
•    Open minded, strong agility and shows courage
•    Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment and deliver under pressure
•    Commercial mindset, bottom line oriented 
•    Curious approach - enjoys difficult challenges
•    Ability to stand up for one’s own ideas in a constructive way
•    Ability to effectively lead and develop teams, strong leadership skills
•    Team player, ability to motivate others towards a common goal to achieve results  
•    Excellent influencing skills across all levels within the organization
•    Fluent in English, other language proficiency (e.g. Dutch) is a plus
•    Willingness to commit to travel: 10 – 20%

 

Required Experience: 
•    Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Perfumery, Science, Chemistry, Consumer Science, Product Research or any other relevant discipline
•    Minimum 5-7 years working experience in the industry or in comparable industries (consumer products), in an international environment
•    Coaching/ mentoring experience of junior team members
