Time has never been better to join the IFF team.  The Development Chemist position reports to our Manufacturing Manager and will work to support Process Improvement projects for the site. The position is located at our Chemical plant in Jacksonville Florida.

Responsibility & % of Time

55% Support day to day operations for plant production, including development of lab scale blends, and general process troubleshooting utilizing knowledge of process chemistry and analytical methods.

25% Conduct lab scale trials in support of continuous improvement efforts, including existing process optimization and new process development.

10% Support site EH&S programs as needed, particularly as they pertain to the Development Lab (housekeeping, monthly audits, etc.).

10% Miscellaneous duties as assigned to ensure continued successful site and laboratory operations.

Required Skills:

Essential:

Bachelor’s Degree in a Chemistry or related science field with minimum 2 years relevant work experience

Preferred:

Post-graduate in Analytical, Organic Chemistry or related field with minimum 2 years relevant work experience

 

Required Experience:

Minimum of 2 years working experience with bench scale processing equipment and analytical instrumentation.

Minimum of 2 years working experience with computer software programs: word processors, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet usage, etc., including writing of technical reports.

Preferred:

3+ years working experience with lab scale equipment and analytical instrumentation (GC; GC-MS) in a laboratory or pilot plant setting in a chemical production environment (distillation).

3+ years working experience with aromatic or fragrance chemical processing, terpene/turpentine processing, etc.

Working experience using software programs: Waters Empower, Agilent ChemStation

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor, Process Departments who will be responsible for the operations management of the microencapsulation and PolyIFF process departments.


As the Production Supervisor in addition to being tasked with the planning and execution of the production schedule, you will also supervise a team of operators across multiple shifts. As an integral part of the Production team you will ensure all responsible areas adhere to budget while ensuring safety, on-time-performance and quality goals are met. You will also drive continuous improvement programs to ensure the business remains agile and competitive for our customers.  This position will play critical role in the strategic initiative to improve the design and configuration of microencapsulation, in support of improved GMPs and microbial risk to business.

Job Requirements

You will spend your time:

 

  • Contribute to the growth, profitability and enhancement of the business by supervising the shop floor activities of the microencapsulation and PolyIFF process departments, ensuring all safety, quality, on-time-performance, cost control and continuous improvement targets are met.
  • Contribute to the enhanced safety, quality, and productivity of the process department by planning and implementing continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activities.
  • Work closely with local and global process engineering to ensure optimized process flow and quality products are manufactured in the microencapsulation department.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and excellent communication with IFF's customer service representatives and commercial teams.
  • Perform administrative functions in support of IFF policies and I.S.O. standards.

 

 

Required Skills 

 

  • BS chemical engineering or similar discipline.
  • Strong focus on safety; solid experience in risk management programs.
  • Demonstrated customer focus skills

 

 

Preferred Skills

 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

 

 

Required Experience

 

  • 3 to 5 years of front-line leadership experience (teaching, coaching, mentoring direct reports)
  • 3-5 years operations management experience in a process based environment.
  • Experience in new product development
  • Experience with quality management programs.
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office© and manufacturing inventory/production software (Prefer SAP©).
