We are looking for a dedicated and results oriented talent to join our Health and Biosciences team as Business Development Manager. This position is Indonesia based and will report to the Sub-Regional Sales Leader for Cultures & Dairy Enzyme.

Your Focus
As Business Development Manager, you will be the Cultures & Dairy Enzyme contact point for our customers in Indonesia and other markets in South East Asia. You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and executing our relationship strategy at key accounts
  • Translating customers’ insights and unmet needs into new business leads
  • Collaborate with internal functions (e.g. innovation, Nourish) and external distributor to drive conversion of business leads


You should have the ability to engage with customers in commercial and technical discussions (e.g. formulation design, production trial execution), and provide first level technical support to our customers and distributors. The portfolio scope will include Cultures (e.g. Yogurt, Plant Based, Protective) and Dairy Enzymes.

How You Will Contribute

  • Achieve Sales Target and Business Objectives within geographic scope in line with H&B - Cultures & Dairy Enzymes Regional Business Strategy and Annual Sales Budget Plan.
  • Develop Account strategy and execute for key accounts.
  • Understanding needs and challenges of customer (key accounts), build and manage strategic relationships at key accounts to identify win-win opportunities and grow revenues while meeting unmet needs of the customer, enabling customer to achieve own objectives with our solutions.
  • Successfully commercialize new opportunities through clear scoping of business and technical requirements, developing differentiated and innovation solutions based on our portfolio’s capabilities, maintaining an attractive business case, and effective coordination between internal and external stakeholders through all stages of sales process.
  • Develop and/or deliver customer workshops and presentations to raise customer awareness of performance needs in focus applications and educate customers on how to employ IFF’s solutions to address these needs.
  • Manage & drive distributor(s) to achieve Sales Objectives and Goals, through development of priorities and execution plan, regular engagement to drive execution and providing guidance (e.g recommended solution offering).
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on market developments and trends, competitive intelligence etc., to ensure relevance of market strategy.
  • Maintain updated 12 month rolling forecast of products on a monthly basis, and liaise with supply chain group, production, SBU and other functions to ensure proper and smooth supply to customers.
  • Maintain updated CRM - account profiles, account plans, call reports, opportunity pipeline etc.

Job Requirements

What you will need to be successful

  • Tertiary qualification in food technology, industrial microbiology, biotechnology, food engineering or related discipline.
  • Solid fresh fermented dairy experience, preferably in application / technical sales or consumer product production.
  • Experience with utilization of culture and lactases in modern food manufacturing with emphasis on fresh fermented dairy products such as yoghurt preferred.
  • Experience with customers engagement and key account management.
  • Existing network and expertise in Indonesia dairy industry.
  • Good commercial and technical acumen that enables identification of technical and commercial needs, and proposal of optimized solution.  
  • Proven value selling and negotiation skills.
  • Resilient to setbacks and strong drive for impact.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, networking ability and team player.
  • Proactive and independent. Proven ability to work and manage time and priorities un-supervised.
  • International in outlook, but with strong cultural affinity for Asian markets.
  • Effective listening, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills. 
  • Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and regionally.
