IFF in Memphis, TN is seeking an Production Engineer to join our team! 


The Production Engineer uses deep understanding of the unit operating procedures and processes to provide analysis, give instruction, plan, compile information, and work collaboratively with others to meet daily production plans. The Production Engineer draws upon significant knowledge of the unit processes and equipment to make business-based decisions. This role has responsibility for assessing the quality, robustness, and capability of the process and making decisions, with others, to halt or modify production as needed if the process does not meet quality and/or safety standards. The incumbent must be able to interact effectively with plant personnel at all levels to influence desired outcomes.


Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 


•    Provide technical support for specific manufacturing unit(s) including monitoring performance metrics, troubleshooting and investigating product quality problems.
•    Manage unit Process Safety Management (PSM) aspects including Management of Change (MOC) process as needed.
•    Participate in incident investigations using Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and/or other tools.
•    Provide subject matter expertise / process knowledge of the unit(s) to all functions (e.g. Maintenance, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, etc.) in regard  to unit standard operating conditions.
•    Provide expertise in starting up and shutting down the plant for planned and unplanned circumstances.
•    Assist Unit Manager in developing plans to ensure cost effective use of assets.
•    Use six sigma or other defect elimination tools and lean tools to find solutions.
•    Collaborate with Manufacturing Technology regarding unit technical issues.
•    Provide coaching & counseling for First Line Supervisors and Co-Ops. Mentor other professionals that support production areas through teaching and communicating in order to improve organization’s skills to meet business needs.
•    Establish effective communications systems throughout the unit focused on sharing of information and engaging employees in the success of the facility.
•    Other duties that may be required due to dynamic changes in business focus.

Job Requirements

The following are required: 


•    High School Diploma/GED
•    A minimum of 2 years of Memphis site experience (with preferred Engineering Bachelor’s Degree) OR 6 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment (with or without an Engineering Bachelor’s Degree). This would include a deep understanding of process theory and equipment utilization.
•    Must be able to collect and analyze data, identify solutions, assess risk factors, and make sound business decisions
•    Proficient in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and PSM
•    Strong oral and written communication skills
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Good interpersonal skills and the ability to positively influence the behavior of others
•    Must be able to use Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and be able to learn other computer systems/databases

•    Proven results through demonstrated leadership in project management or supervisor roles
