Job Description

Our Memphis, TN location is looking for a Director of Operations to lead our Proteins Solutions manufacturing operations.

This exciting and pivotal role will work collaboratively to provide manufacturing and operations vision, direction, and expertise for the company. This includes leading the overall manufacturing operations, safety, process quality functions, and change management. 

We expect you to be technically savvy as well as people, customer, and business oriented. You lead by example and have a proven track record of demonstrating excellent leadership, collaboration, and communications skills.

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
 
Manufacturing Strategy
Lead and support the Protein Solutions Business team to coordinate local implementation of different tactical elements aligned with the corporate strategy and ensure consistency of corporate programs, policies, and procedures.
Drive local teams to meet or exceed all relevant customers, external 3rd party quality, government audits, licenses, and certifications (i.e., GFSI, ISO's, NSF, etc.) 

Management/People Development
Culture Change Champion. Acting as a change agent, challenging paradigms and fostering a continuous improvement process and problem-solving culture at all levels. Creating a culture of employee engagement, trust and people capability development.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champion. Foster and support the DE&I Strategy and Initiatives of IFF. 
Ensure a positive labor relation collaboration with union board members and the leadership team.   
Directly manage Production manager, warehouse managers, Quality managers, EHS managers, and Maintenance managers within the scope of the site.
Provide robust and detailed personal and work development plans with SMART objectives aligned with corporate goals and objectives.
MFG Execution:  
Ensure that Manufacturing KPIs (e.g., OST, Cost, FPFQY) are in alignment with Operations and Corporate targets including the setting and monitoring of non-conformance rates.
Ensure Quality Control programs are fit for purpose to include staffing, method development, stability programs, and management and investigation of OOS results.
Support the growth of the business.
Identify opportunities, Lead Operations, and quality initiatives to improve capacity and cost within manufacturing sites, assuring proper qualification of products and processes with a First Time Right mindset. 
MOC: Responsible for ensuring Global MOC procedure is executed consistently within manufacturing sites.
Build strong relationships with internal and external parties (Supply chain leadership, Capex execution, Global Quality, BU global product managers, Global Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing Technology, Legal, and Customer Services) and gain customer intimacy to manage expectations.
Act as the operations culture champion cascading the organization’s core values and strong operational qualities (safety, quality, continuous improvement, etc.)
Global Risk Planning Committee Member – You will be a key partner and stakeholder on this strategic sourcing team who has oversight into the strategic buying of our raw materials.
Contract Manufacturing- You will have functional oversite of the Proteins contract manufacturing execution in North America. This will be a key role in identifying opportunities for cost saving initiatives and give broad visibility into production oversight to remove potential roadblocks in the North America Protein Solutions contract manufacturing facilities.

Job Requirements

 

  • BS/Master’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, or related Science field.
  • 15+ years of manufacturing experience, with at least eight (8) years of supervisory/leadership experience managing exempt professionals.  
  • Demonstrated understanding of product safety and regulatory requirements for food production including HACCP, excipients, cosmetics, and/or API.
  • Strong emotional intelligence to help foster a positive and supportive culture that values feedback, learning, and growth.
  • Ability to plan and execute the change and improvement process and lead your team and stakeholders through it.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
