Job Description

International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), Memphis Plant has an exciting opportunity for a 1st shift Lead Mechanic position.

The site Lead Mechanic role supports achievement of plant objectives through maintaining manufacturing or packaging equipment at required operating levels by adjusting or replacing parts as necessary to facilitate the repair and/or changeover of equipment to manufacture or package various products.  Also maintain manufacturing and/or packaging equipment at required operating levels, through the performance of preventative/predictive maintenance and major overhauls in order to meet departmental production standards on equipment.


JOB DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.    Distribute daily work orders.  Follow up on jobs and keep maintenance supervisors updated on progress.
2.    Provide direction for field installation, service and repair of equipment.
3.    Communicate weekly work order status & work progress using SAP, email, verbal and Visual Management Board updates to Manager(s), Supervisor(s), Maintenance Coordinator, Engineers, Leads and Technicians.
4.    Support & direct troubleshooting for equipment in the field.
5.    Provide direction for field installation, service, and repair of equipment.
6.    Monitor storeroom stock levels of whole equipment & components to ensure SAP and actual stock levels support operational needs.
7.    Monitor laydown area, scheduled work and break-in work to anticipate what rebuild needs may be and adjust priority.
8.    Prepare/plan jobs including estimating task times, writing step-wise operations for execution by others less familiar with equipment and sourcing/kitting/ordering stock/stores/MRO material as well as non-stock material.
9.    Provide acceptance criteria for performing quality inspections, completing necessary notifications, work orders and corrective action W.O.s as needed.
10.    Follow up on SAP work order closed. (TECO) 
11.    Update weekly maintenance schedule with job completion status 
12.    Maintain good standing on bi annual supervisor job performance appraisals
13.    Perform other duties and work rotating shifts as assigned


KNOWLEDGE OF:
1.    SAP proficiency for WMP (Search and revise MRO/stock parts, issue permits, TECO)
2.    MS Office package
3.    Site safety, environmental, plant equipment and repair requirements and policies
4.    Power transmission components
5.    Site KPIs and the impact of equipment on Safety, OST and Quality

ABILITY TO:
1.    Generate notifications, work orders and requisitions
2.    Modify work order operations, adjust work order operation timing
3.    Train and demonstrate skills to lower-level mechanics
4.    Gather and process data from multiple sources related to mechanical/electrical failures
5.    Translate directional instruction into independent decisions as changes occur
6.    Deliver on expectations without daily reminders and instruction
7.    Operate mobile equipment in a safe manner.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Current Maintenance Progression Plan classification of Mechanic I or higher
Discipline requirement is less than 2 active reprimands.
