Production Operator II - New Century, KS


NATURE OF WORK

 

Primary duties include safely and efficiently operating and maintaining continuous performance of the process (Dimodan/Panodan) systems through the use of the computer to operate and control the continuous process. Take samples, make blends, take, record and report accurate measurements and counts for inventory control. Maintain safe and sanitary conditions through the Dimodan ® and Panodan ® plants.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Acquire and apply job knowledge, skills and ability required to effectively and efficiently operate the Panodan and Dimodan systems as necessary to meet the production schedule, following established procedures.
  • Take the initiative to organize and accurately perform all job functions required to meet the volume and quality of product scheduled.
  • Practice and promote safety, quality and sanitation by following plant policies, GMP's and procedures. Compliance with these policies, procedures and GMP's is required. In addition, you have an obligation to yourself, the company and your fellow employees to report any safety hazards observed including failure of others to follow safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Insure efficient operations by acquiring and applying knowledge of current production schedules. Performing operations necessary to meet schedule requirements, including preparation of blends, train operator trainees and communicating information as necessary to other operators, departments and the appropriate supervisor or Lead. Providing suggestions and support to resolve difficulties.
  • Utilize SAP computer systems for timely schedules and accurate production reporting of production, inventory control and communication.
  • Promote employee driven and teamwork environment.
  • Provide production and inventory information by taking accurate measurements, counts and readings as required for process and inventory control. Prepare and transmit and/or submit all required forms and reports of production, transfers and inventory to Shift Lead.
  • Keep Panodan and Dimodan plants clean, organized and operating efficiently.
  • Follow written or verbal instructions and work independently when necessary.
  • Load and/or unload rail cars or tank trucks as required.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Compliance with applicable company policies to maintain a drug free workplace is required.
  • Compliance with all Company policies is required.
  • Other functions as required (non-essential functions.)
  • Ensure adherence to all management systems including ISO14001, , and BRC Food Safety, with an understanding of IFF Quality and Environmental Policies and procedures. Responsible that these policies and procedures are implemented throughout the organization and all related activities under the position’s jurisdiction.
  • Perform quality testing of in-process samples and intermediate bulk samples.
  • Utilize PIM’s and the uploading of accurate information into the host system.
  • Utilize the Dynamic Performance Measurements (DPM) to efficiently and effectively optimize plant performance to promote energy and cost savings.

Job Requirements

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must possess a high school education or equivalent. Some college is preferred. Must be good communicator with the ability to follow written or verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team as required. Spray and packaging experience and knowledge of formulation process very beneficial.

 

SCOPE OF POSITION

  • This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Typical decisions faced by the incumbent include problem solving in basic physics, chemistry, mechanics and math.
  • Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Production plant environment with periodic exposure to heat within the plant and outside atmosphere condition. Exposure to hazardous materials training is required.
