IFF-Lucas Meyer Cosmetics is seeking a passionate and results driven West Coast Formulation Manager! Our business is expanding, and we aim to provide strong technical support for our customers in the Cosmetic Industry.

 

Your Focus


As the West Coast Formulation Manager, you will drive the technical support for the West Coast sales team, and customers by providing formulation support for the business. The role will see you leading implementation of global priorities and formulation strategies at your regional level. You will run training in our facility and in customer labs, create or adapt formulations of prototypes for marketing promotion, on top of representing the West Coast as technical lead in Cosmetic Industry Event.


The role is based in Los Angeles area and will report to the NOAM Formulation Manager.

Job Requirements

 

Your Missions

 

  • Implement the overall global priorities and formulation/application strategies regionally
  • Provide technical support to West Coast sales managers and customers (i.e. cosmetic manufacturers, brands and consultants) by:
    • Ensuring formulation assistance for those customers, being the technical contact for any question related to formulation of LMC ingredients
    • Organizing and performing hands-on lab demonstrations in customers’ labs or in LMC’s facilities on a weekly basis and as needed
    • Working in close collaboration with Regional Marketing Team to organize promotional events (exhibitions, webinars, technical conference, seminars, etc.) and provide lab support, which may include presentations and prototype development.
    • Ensuring technical research for NOAM market focusing on West Coast region
    • Identifying and working on new prototypes developments which illustrate Lucas Meyer Cosmetics range of raw materials
    • Reformulating existing chassis developed by our global formulation laboratories to respond to specific formulation briefs received from local/ regional cosmetic brands & customers
    • Ensuring good activities coordination with other LMC laboratories
    • Act as technical interface with our France-based Center of Expertise, while reporting to East Coast based NOAM Formulation Manager with a dotted line to our West Coast Commercial Manager
    • Master and champion regional customer and consumer understanding, competitors and identify untapped consumer/customer needs and market dynamics. Share insights with the LMC global organization

 

What you will need to be successful

 

  • Minimum 10 years proven track record experience in a cosmetic formulation laboratory with expertise in skin care (including sun care); experience in hair care, make-up and toiletries a plus
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific field, preferably chemistry or cosmetic science related from an ACS accredited school
  • Hands-on formulating experience necessary, especially in emulsion technologies
  • Experience in scaling up formula is a strong asset
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about cosmetic products with a very good knowledge of trends and Indie Brands
  • Good communication skills and ability to speak in front of an audience: diplomatic and able to adapt to various regional environments in NOAM
  • Curious and creative mindset with hands-on approach
  • Good educational and listening skills
  • Organized, thorough with strong attention to details 
  • Independent and have an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and different levels to achieve business results
  • Open to some travelling domestically and internationally (around 20% of time)

Compensation ($114,240 - 127,800) is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
