Analyst I, Quality - Newark, DE

 

The Analyst I Quality will perform testing on the finished product, in-process, or raw material samples in either the chemistry or microbiology lab to provide analytical information to support the manufacturing process and ensure the product meets specification and consumer safety standards.
 

Main Responsibilities:

 

Technical/Functional:
 

  • Accurately and consistently perform routine testing in the QC lab.
  • Conduct testing in accordance with SOP's.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration procedures on laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare and qualify reagents as required.
  • Sample raw material and finished product containers.
  • Assist in labeling off-quality material as needed.
  • Analyze and report results via LIMS and communicate/present test results and pertinent information to appropriate persons.
  • Position requires ability to operate on rotating shift schedule.

 
Quality:
 

  • Follow all standard lab procedures and testing methods.
  • Assure lab equipment is kept clean and in good working order.
  • Comply with CGMP, GLP, FSSC, and ISO 9001 standards, both in the laboratory and in the plant.
  • Maintain accurate records of all test results and report them in a timely manner in alignment with the quality system.
  • Ensure documentation and records are maintained according to plant procedures and the quality system.
  • Suggest changes to procedures and methods as needed.

 
Safety/Health/Environment:
 

  • Conduct all lab procedures in a manner that protects the safety & health of self & other individuals.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Assist in maintaining, at a high level, all laboratory safety equipment and cleanliness/housekeeping standards
  • Support the site behavioral based safety program by participating in observations and providing constructive feedback for safety improvement. Carry out safety risk assessments for lab activities
  • Ensure all work is conducted with respect to safety precautions, equipment safety devices
  • Conduct all work in compliance with systems for maintaining a safe workplace (Management of Change, Environmental Management System, PSM etc.)
  • Take personal responsibility to raise safety concerns and be part of the resolution
  • Participate in plant safety initiatives
  • Ensures disposal of all laboratory wastes is in compliance with regulatory and plant guidelines

 
Communication:
 

  • Proactively communicate issues and ideas for improvement.
  • Ensure all key stakeholders in your areas of responsibility have required information in a timely manner.
  • Effectively utilize all communication systems (telephone, voicemail, electronic mail, memos, posting) to stay informed and inform others as appropriate.
  • Provide and/or respond to information requests in a timely and complete manner.
  • Demonstrate an attitude of respect and professional interaction with others to stay informed and inform others as appropriate.

Job Requirements

 

Education / Experience:
 

  • Minimum High School Degree with Associates of Applied Science Degree preferred in chemical technology, microbiology, or related fields of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6 months to 2 years experience in a testing laboratory or equivalent with experience in a chemistry lab preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment and analytical testing procedures preferred.

 
Knowledge / Skills / Competencies:
 

  • Good math and analytical skills (ability to perform calculations).
  • Computer literacy with MS Office, email, Internet, etc.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, and cGMPs desired.
  • Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) desired.
