Job Description

IFF has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Specialist at the IFF Newark, DE site. The IFF Newark site is a part of IFF Pharma Solutions business and is a leading supplier to the food and pharmaceutical industries. 

 

This position is responsible for the management of quality systems to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements and corporate quality standards.  The Quality Specialist works closely with all facility personnel to ensure excellent quality performance and full compliance with cGMP and Food Safety requirements.

 

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Site microbiology SME – Work with quality and operations staff to assure a robust microbiological testing and control program is in place and operating effectively.
  • Customer Complaints – Responsible for documenting, investigating, and maintaining customer complaints in complaint systems. Contact customer, lead investigations, determines root cause and corrective/preventive action.  Follow up with customer and respond to customer in writing.  
  • Overall ownership of the site’s Food Safety and Food Defense programs that define requirements to maintain compliance with Food safety standards.
  • Internal Auditing: Work with site operations team to develop and execute risk-based audit plans to mitigate quality risk.
  • Oversee and coordinate the site’s 3rd party Quality audit programs.
  • Create “one-pagers” and communicate key learnings from complaints.  Learnings shared with on-site personnel as well as sharing with the broader IFF network.
  • Provide in-plant support to site leadership, operators, mechanics, contractors, and technical staff to ensure proper quality and GMP operation.
  • Ensure GMP training is effective in sharing GMP know-how needed to achieve best in class quality operations.
  • Lead and work with the site Food Safety committee to accomplish Food Safety objectives and to maintain continued compliance with all requirements.  Provide coaching at all levels of the organization.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related science or engineering field
  • Two or more years of quality experience with working knowledge of Excipient and/or Food GMPs and quality requirements for manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with organizational culture change/development.
  • Interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively, professionally and respectfully in a team-based environment to involve peers, customers, line management and technical competency experts.
  • Ability to train, coach, mentor and influence teams and resolve conflicts in support of organizational goals.
  • Organizational, data management and analytical skills.

 

Additional desirable (not required) - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • LP1 experience (IFF ERP system)
  • Understanding of FSSC 2200
