Our ingredient portfolio includes enzymes, biopolymers, and other bioactives for application in detergents, personal care products, textile processing and various industrial cleaning processes.

We are currently looking for an Application Specialist Home & Fabric Care to join our team at IFF Leiden, Netherlands. In this role you will be reporting to the Regional Application Lead for EAME. Our Leiden site is a dynamic and globally diverse hub, comprising 180 colleagues representing 29 nationalities. Our colleagues work across R&D, Application, and Commercial functions for our Health & Bioscience business, along with corporate staff.

Key responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced technical professional who provides internal and external technical support in the development and application of products, processing techniques, and resolution of technical problems. As an Application Specialist you independently perform the design, execution, and interpretation of lab experiments. These experiments include biochemical analysis of enzymatic detergent formulations, stability testing, and product performance appraisal in e.g., washing machines and dishwashers. You are familiar with good laboratory practices, data interpretation and statistical and project management tools. An Application Specialist supports the Sales and Marketing team by demonstrating technical product and applications knowledge and/or technical solutions at the customer.

Job Requirements

•    BSc. degree with 3-6 years’ work experience in the detergent, chemical, or (food) ingredient industry, preferably in an R&D or Technical Support role.
•    Or MSc. degree in (bio-)chemical or engineering discipline and an affinity with detergent applications, home care/fabric care, or food ingredients.
•    Good interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.
•    Proactive, and self-starting personality.
•    Strong communication skills. Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
•    Team-player who enjoys working in an international environment.
•    Based or willing to relocate to the vicinity of Leiden, The Netherlands.
