IFF Palo Alto CA (formerly Danisco, Genencor Technology and Innovation Center) is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Process Development team. In this role, you will be working in upstream processing in our state-of-the-art R&D Laboratories and Pilot Plant Facility. You will be part of a team responsible for the fast-paced and hands-on development of biological production processes across all stages of process development: from discovery, scale-up to pilot production, and technology transfer to manufacturing plants.
Specific duties include:
• Hands on implementation of upstream processes such as prepping bioreactors, sterilizing media, and aseptic sampling
• Coaching and developing direct reports and other Process Technicians
• Ability to apply scientific principles to solve operations and routine production tasks
• Work collaboratively with process technicians, development engineers, research scientists, and global supply teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Scheduling and planning of various process activities. Ensures equipment and the work area is available for use.
• Accountable for delivery on time on committed activities within the Team
• Attending and/or hosting departmental meetings
• Resolving personnel issues and workplace conflicts
• Troubleshooting, problem solving and administratively tracking operational and/or performance issues
• Responsible for the training and development of the Team
• Other- leading improvement activities, helping with hiring of staff
• Guaranteeing the appropriate handover of information between teams and shifts
• Define the workload and justify by numbers if additional resources are required
• Perform other duties, as assigned. Includes equipment commissioning and PSSR participation
• Providing continuous improvement and innovation to the lab processes
Job Requirements
Requirements:
• Training: 4 to 6 years experience in upstream (fermentation/bioreactor) OR Biotech field
• 1 or more years leadership experience such as team or project management, a benefit
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team player
• Self-starter with good organizational skills
• Strong planning, prioritization, and scheduling skills. Organized.
• Ability to problem solve
• Ability to communicate in both written and verbal format.
• Documentation skills including: review and establishing batch production records, SOPs, deviation and summary reports
