Job Description

IFF Palo Alto CA (formerly Danisco, Genencor Technology and Innovation Center) is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Process Development team in a Team Lead role. In this role, you will be working in our state-of-the-art R&D Process Laboratories and Pilot Plant Facility. You will be part of a team responsible for the fast-paced and hands-on development of biological production processes across all stages of process development.
Specific duties include:
- Hands on implementation of fermentation processes such as prepping, operating and turn over of bioreactors, sterilizing media, and aseptic sampling
- Ability to apply scientific principles to solve operations and routine production tasks
- Work collaboratively with process technicians, development engineers, research scientists, and global supply teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Responsible for leading a team of technicians including, coaching and developing direct reports and other Process Technicians
- Scheduling and planning of various process activities to meet experimental requirements.
- Accountable for delivery on time on committed activities within the Team
- Attending and/or hosting departmental meetings
- Resolving personnel issues and workplace conflicts
- Troubleshooting, problem solving and administratively tracking operational and/or performance issues
- Lead improvement activities,
- Facilitating the handover of information between teams and shifts
- Recruiting and hiring of staff based on workload justification.
- Perform other duties, as assigned. Includes equipment commissioning and PSSR participation
- Providing continuous improvement and innovation to the lab processes
Job Requirements
- 4 to 6 years experience in fermentation/bioreactor OR process biotech related field
- 1 or more years leadership experience such as team or project management, a benefit
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team player
- Self-starter with good organizational skills
- Strong planning, prioritization, and scheduling skills. Organized.
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to clearly communicate in both written and verbal format.
- Documentation skills including: review and establishing batch production records, SOPs, deviation and summary reports
Compensation ($82,320 - 92,610) is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
