Job Description

We are looking for our next Food Technologist II to join our Beverage Team! Our ability to meet the constantly evolving needs of consumers through innovative and comprehensive solutions ensures our customers a totally satisfying experience. We create, develope, manufacture and market an extensive variety of high quality flavors and fine ingredients for our customers.  We welcome all Applications category experience, but the current focus is on the Beverage Category.

The primary function of this job is to be dedicated to developing high quality commercially viable flavor application vehicles for beverages and to test and present products that are cost effective, profitable, of quality, unique and make our customer products better.  The incumbent will be responsible for testing new products in test kitchen and developing specific processing methods in lab, and will confer with Sales Team and Flavorists on projects to meet customer’s requirements or to invent new recipes and ideas.  

Job Requirements

How you will spend your time:
Test and assess application of selected flavors in food products and bases in areas of interest to the company to determine best possible submission of company products.
Maintain awareness and knowledge of new products and developments related to production processes in food product areas of interest to the company along with industry trends.
Proactively collaborate with Sales Team and develop improved/enhanced relationships with key accounts through presentations, customer visits and technical service communications.
Proactively collaborate with Flavorists for flavor testing, taste panels and other sensory evaluations and to test and refine new flavor development to customer requirements to determine best possible submission for projects.
Proactively develop flavoring solutions to customer projects through creative formulating of existing products in application.
Embrace New Technology by seeking out potential applications through collaborative efforts with the New Technology Department.
Proactively support application projects as workload demands.  Support other projects in a technical capacity as workload demands.
Collaborate and Liaise with technical and sales staff to build supplier and customer relationships, which may include presenting product information to customers.
Contribute to flavor marketing strategies through participation in or creation of flavor application vehicles and brainstorming of concepts.
Maintain current knowledge base and data base of company products.
Proactively resolves potential problems associated with flavor applications.  
Actively participate in professional development activities, whether outside training or through mentoring and stay abreast of industry trends and competition.
Perform other projects/duties as assigned, including assignment to specific product lines as necessary.

Required Skills and Experience:

B.S. in Chemistry preferred or Food Science with 5 to 7 years of progressive responsibility in a Flavor manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to use physical senses to evaluate quality of full variety of flavors and products.
Demonstrate proficient knowledge and application of both natural and artificial ingredients.  
Possess computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills including the ability to collaborate effectively with others in a team environment.
Flexible to perform various job duties, meet competing deadlines, multi-task and work irregular and unscheduled hours to get the job done or assist team on projects.  
Must possess keen attention to detail and excellent project management, time management, problem resolution and innovative skills are essential. 
Ability to represent Tastepoint in a respectful and professional manner and to deliver professional presentations to staff, customers or conference audiences if required.
Ability to travel as needed, potentially up to 20% of the time.
