Maintenance Mechanic - Split Shift - Decatur Road, Philadelphia Facility

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team! The Maintenance Mechanic on Split Shift provides coverage for our Facility. This position will overlap between first and 2nd shifts and will focus on completing maintenance and Facilities tasks that cannot be completed when the building is fully occupied. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

 

You Will Spend Your Time...

 

As the Maintenance Mechanic on a Split Shift you will be responsible in performing preventative, scheduled and emergency maintenance throughout facility, focusing on those tasks that are best performed when the building is not fully occupied. You will perform room set-ups in preparation for the following day’s events. You will also be the eyes and ears of the Maintenance Supervisor and the Facility Manager regarding off-shift contractor operations to ensure they meet IFF standards and expectations.

 

  • Use strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to react to issues and emergencies throughout your day.
  • Comfortable inspecting the work of the contractors and directing any improvements in services. 
  • Install, maintain, and repair processing machinery including stills, pressurized reactors, control systems, rolling stock, physical structures, piping, and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment; operate automatically fired boilers and related equipment. 
  • You will adhere to all HACCP requirements incl. scheduled calibrations and protocols for releasing repaired equipment back to service (FSP-013 & FSP-014).
  • Correctly diagnose machine or equipment failures or malfunctions.
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment, and install new or repaired parts; Install or repair electrical apparatus.
  • Use your broad knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems and general facility repairs to maintain the facility.

 

Job Requirements

 

 

As the Maintenance Mechanic you should have a broad knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems and general facility repairs and possess a minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing or laboratory/education environment. Candidate must have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to react to issues and emergencies. You should also be comfortable inspecting the work of the contractors and directing any improvements in services.

 

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable; Philadelphia Class “A” or Class “D” Operating Engineer’s license.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with written and verbal correspondence in English - read & comprehend.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a computer and Windows based programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies must be followed. (exposures to hot, cold, wet and/or humid, and loud noise conditions).
  • Strict COVID Protocols are in place and adherence is required.
  • Must be available from 11 am to 7:30 pm Monday through Friday.
  • Trained in confined space entry, hot work, line breaking, LOTO, and lift truck operation, Boiler Operator’s License, OSHA 10 and/or formal emergency response training is a plus.
  • Minimum five years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing facility or chemical/food/pharmaceutical plant.
  • Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and handle unexpected situations.
  • Experience with Maintenance and Repair duties including the adjustment and alignment of all types of pumps, fluid machinery, valves, pneumatic systems, steam systems, solid material processing and handling equipment, filling and packaging machinery.
  • Experience with basic welding, shop machinery, and portable power tools.
  • Trained in confined space entry, hot work, line breaking, LOTO, and lift truck operation.
  • NJ Boiler Operator’s License (Low Pressure), OSHA 10 and/or formal emergency response training is a plus.
