We are looking for our next Sr. Food Technologist to join our Beverage Team!  Our ability to meet the constantly evolving needs of consumers through innovative and comprehensive solutions ensures our customers a totally satisfying experience. We create, develop, manufacture and market an extensive variety of high quality flavors and fine ingredients for customers.

We welcome all Applications category experience but the current focus is on the Beverage Category.

About You:

In this role, you will lead, manage and execute Beverage projects by providing the highest quality flavor applications to Tastepoint's internal and external customers. You will collaborate with Sales, Sensory & Consumer Insights, Account Managers and Flavorists to drive category strategies and customer initiatives.

  • Supporting sales and marketing groups by developing new and creative prototypes for demonstrating the company’s flavors to customers through project work and proactive presentations.
  • Work on Nutritional Beverages 
  • Lead the execution of projects in coordination and in collaboration with various departments
  • Providing technical assistance and flavor expertise to customers for problem solving and product development
  • Supporting Sensory through preparation of samples for testing and routine flavor evaluations for the flavor library
  • Lead customer visits and working sessions.
  • Develop and present applications to showcase the company’s new technologies
  • Participating in customer account development and relations through sales calls and project execution
  • Staying abreast of new food ingredient developments as well as processing and equipment advances and applying them to enhance project work
  • Mentoring your colleagues 
  • Managing the flavor library as well as prototype formulations
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment

Required Skills

  • BA/BS Degree, Food Science or related degree.  MS in Food Science or related field preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the food industry in a lab or applications environment
  • Expertise/knowledge in cross category end-use applications for Beverages.
  • Experience in nutritional and plant-based beverage application
  • Exceptional tasting skills and knowledge in Flavors development
  • Strong knowledge in food safety, raw materials, food regulations, and sanitations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and project management capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exploratory mindset, problem solving skills.
  • Cross-Category experience (savory, sweet, dairy, and/or beverage) is a plus
  • Travel - when possible, up to 20% of the time

As a Senior Food Technologist- Snack Innovation Lead at IFF, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the some of the most exciting projects in the flavor industry today. Working in a collaborative team environment, IFF will be looking for you to drive innovation and creativity to assist our customers in enhancing existing product lines and in launching new cutting-edge product initiatives.


About You:


In this role you will serve as a lead technical contact for understanding and facilitating technical execution at the customer and global basis, liaise with IFF Global and Regional Commercial Managers, IFF Global and Regional Technical Leads, IFF Innovation Program Directors and Global Technology Leads at key accounts. 

Job Requirements

As the Senor Food Technologist, your responsibilities are…


  • Act as a partner to the Global Executive Directors key account and other snack customers and be the Global Technical Lead to support the aspirational growth of key accounts in snacks.
  • Develop, implement and execute technical programs in alignment with the account's strategy to research and provide the tools to grow IFF share.
  • Cement a long-term viable business relationship in order to achieve IFF's corporate vision for global snack accounts.
  • Build technical to technical relationships with key decision makers to navigate the customer technical culture.
  • Liaise, partner and collaborate with key Global Accounts, Applied Research teams.
  • Test and validate potential flavor technologies for snacks and in dough applications and bases.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to Innovation Program Director’s and R&D to expedite deployment and availability of tools and solutions.
  • Work with the Global Technical Lead to deliver innovation, productivity and technologies to the IFF creative team and customer.
  • Educate the IFF Value Added Seasonings (VAS) community to facilitate growth within this category.
  • Have the ability to work independently in applications and project planning, seamlessly integrating creativity, innovation and presentation skills to provide best in class support to IFF clients. 


Required Skills 


  • Able to establish and guide cross functional teams focusing on product, project or innovation development
  • Guide organization to build and employ regional toolbox of validated technologies for application in snack and extrusion design.
  • In concert with GTL, centralize project coordination and ownership
  • Guide and collaborate with other IFF technical labs to deliver on flavor requirements and flavor application
  • Work effectively  hands-on level as required and provide leadership to assigned project teams to ensure highest win rate possible by testing and validating key technologies in application and facilitating solution to the creative teams in all regions and markets.
  • Knowledgeable with commercialization/scale up of seasonings and flavor systems
  • Provide leadership to bring knowledge and visibility to best practices to development , address efficiencies, and ways of working and leverage flavors , applications and knowledge for global and regional projects..


Required Experience 


  • Minimum 10 years’ working experience in industrial food pharmaceutical ingredient or flavor industry and 5 in the specific field of expertise i.e. snack, in dough extrusion
  • Academic Qualification / Background Essential: Minimum entry level a BS degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related disciplines
