Job Description

IFF has an opening at its Pryor, Oklahoma manufacturing facility for a Reliability Technician in the Maintenance & Reliability Department. The person in this position will be focused on increasing the onstream time of assets by improving the mechanical reliability of the equipment, eliminating unplanned breakdowns through improved mechanical & electrical design / application, instrumentation, PdM implementation, and ensuring proper spare parts are stocked.  This person will also occasionally assist as a subject matter expert for complex / large breakdowns, but the intent is IFF has an opening at its Pryor, Oklahoma manufacturing facility for a Reliability Technician in the Maintenance & Reliability Department. The person in this position will be focused on increasing the onstream time of assets by improving the mechanical reliability of the equipment, eliminating unplanned breakdowns through improved mechanical & electrical design / application, instrumentation, PdM implementation, and ensuring proper spare parts are stocked.  This person will also occasionally assist as a subject matter expert for complex / large breakdowns, but the intent is 80% of this role’s work is on the proactive side to prevent failures.  This role will work closely with the site’s Reliability Engineer.  

Responsibilities Include

•    Conduct work activities and demonstrate leadership behavior consistent with IFF Core Principles.  Sets high expectations for safe execution of work.
•    Works with the Reliability Engineer to prioritize mechanical breakdown opportunities.
•    Develops improvements to the mechanical and/or electrical design, process instrumentation, PdM methodologies, preventative maintenance programs, etc. to improve the mechanical reliability of problematic unit operations.  Engages expertise of vendors and corporate/site resources while developing these projects and plans.  Owns Management of Change process to ensure proper review prior to implementation.
•    Assists on follow-up to issues identified through PdM program.
•    Conducts Root Cause Failure Analysis on significant mechanical failures and develops robust corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
•    With Reliability Engineer, develops and maintains critical equipment list and ensures proper spares are on hand.  Assists MRO Planner to identify issues with obsolescence in a timely manner.
•    Engages with Unit Leads and Area Managers on a regular basis to understand areas of reliability concern and follows up in accord with overall reliability priorities.
•    Develops expertise on details of equipment and on occasion serves as subject matter expert for complex / large repairs in conjunction with Maintenance Engineer.
•    Assists in mentoring / training of crafts and sharing key learnings from reliability improvements.
•    Through contacts with vendors and other subject matter experts, stays current on updates to PdM technologies and develops plans to implement where warranted by value created.
•    Conducts QA of new equipment and works with crafts to ensure that best practices are followed for new equipment installation.
•    Participates in site safety programs to ensure the safety of all site personnel and contractors.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
•    Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology degree or 15 years of industrial experience as a journeyman craftsman 
•    Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
•    Team player with an ability to work closely with all functional teams within the plant
•    Self-starter with systematic decision making, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills 

Preferred Qualifications
•    3+ years of experience in food ingredient manufacturing or related industry
•    Experience in leading root cause failure analysis with track record of preventing recurrence
•    Proven ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical / electrical reliability issues
•    Ability to manage, organize, and prioritize multiple projects/tasks, adapt to changing conditions and balance a “big picture” focus with detailed execution.
•    Vibration Analyst Certification

The position requires frequent work within the manufacturing environment, following all safety rules and procedures. Focus of this position is on the Pryor site, so travel is expected to be minimal.
