Job Description

IFF is looking for an experienced Chemist to join our Nutrition and Bioscience Division located in Rochester, NY in our Quality Control organization.

The principle responsibilities for this position are:
•    Analytical method development, validation, optimization and implementation 
•    Method transfer to internal and external labs
•    Data collection and advanced analysis. Use of statistics, interpretation and decision making
•    Writing standard operating procedures
•    Presenting and discussing scientific data to a diverse global team to define strategy
•    Working with manufacturing sites to troubleshoot methods and perform quality checks for product consistency and safety purposes
•    Work closely with regulatory teams to collect data for registrations or toxicology testing
•    Serve as a technical contributor and manages whole or major parts of analytical projects
•    Serves as a resident expert in one or more technologies and/or functions
•    Use project management skills to identify, prioritize, coordinate, and complete specific project objectives 
•    Works with Bioanalytical Management and coordinates with other team members to align resources needed to complete project objectives
•    Serves as a resident expert in one or more technologies and/or functions
•    Initiate and lead team discussions
•    Conducts internal and external training and assessments 

Job Requirements

•    Requires a Bachelors/Masters degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years overall experience in an lab setting
•    Experience working with proteins; HPLC is a plus
•    Strong computer skills are required; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; Minitab and PowerPoint experience are a plus
•    Statistics and quality control exposure would be preferred 
•    Strong work ethic, proactive, self-motivated
•    Good organizational skills with ability to multitask.  Have strong attention to detail
•    Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
•    Able to make sound systematic decisions, problem solving, and troubleshooting
•    Able to effectively prioritize, organize, and plan responsibilities to meet deadlines
•    Adaptable to changing conditions and priorities
•    Strong teamwork and leadership skills to work with an interactive and self-directed team
•    Periodic travel will be required
