Job Description

It's an exciting time to be part of the IFF family!   IFF in Rochester, NY is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team!   This individual will be responsible for performing preventative, predictive, routine, emergency, and unplanned maintenance tasks supporting all of the IFF Rochester Manufacturing site while working safely and ensuring production has minimal food safety and downtime impact.  If you are an outgoing and motivated individual looking to start a long-term career, then this is the role for you!  

 

  • Tours the plant and ensures all the utility equipment and instrumentation are operating properly.
  • Maintains, repairs, and performs basic preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, blowers, HVAC, instrumentation, and other equipment through a schedule provided by the maintenance planner or maintenance manager.
  • Performs emergency and unscheduled repairs of various production, utility equipment to ensure minimal downtime and no food safety incident.  
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment during off hours for call in.
  • Interface with process operators when problems arise during production. Share and leverage learning to process operators and production supervisor. Have good communication skills.
  • Use various hand and power tools, electrical meters, and other maintenance related tools to perform maintenance tasks. 
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records, work order completion, charging of time & spare parts, etc.
  • Supports internal customers such as operations, EH&S, QA, QC, manufacturing technology engineers, etc. 
  • Review and comply with site, corporate procedures and standards where applicable for the tasks.
  • Effective team player who willingly shares and accepts responsibilities, helps others, asks for help when needed.
  • Ensure that all work is done under strict regulatory & IFF compliance, completion and archival of all required records, inspections, and activities, OSHA compliance, routine inspections, audits, and corrective actions. 
  • Acts in compliance with all company policies including, but not limited to: Quality, Safety, Food/Feed Safety, Environmental, GMPs, Dietary Supplements, and HACCP-HARPC.
  • Responsible for adherence to all quality systems including: ISO 22000 Food Safety, FAMI-QS and NSF Dietary Supplements with an understanding of DuPont/Danisco Corporate Quality policies and procedures.
  • May be responsible for performing calibrations on equipment including CCP and OPRP.
     

Job Requirements

  • College degree or high school diploma with a minimum of 3 years of large scale manufacturing experience with background in production and manufacturing equipment. 
  • Have at least 1-2 years’ experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and basic electrical repairs.  
  • Able to read and interpret documents and drawings.
  • Ability to write repair reports as well as good verbal communication.
  • Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate is a plus (but not required).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Beginning knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to learn SAP and other site systems.
  • Ability to do moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Able to wear a respirator & fall protection equipment.
  • Ability to work with others as well as independently pending on the task. 
  • Must be willing to attend/ learn safety training, lockout tagout, fork truck, scissor lift, respirator training, etc.

 
WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Must be willing and able to work a changing shift schedule, weekend work, and to be on call.  
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Can lift, walk, stand, stoop, bend, twist, climb, and kneel throughout shift
  • Able to use protective equipment including safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, respiratory protection, hearing protection, lift protection, etc.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions (ranging from negative forty degrees (-40) Fahrenheit to one hundred (100) degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Must be able to work in various locations such as heights, confined enclosed spaces, etc. 
  • Must be able to work in various conditions such as hot, cold, snowy, etc.
