Job Description

Accountable for operating steam plant and waste treatment facilities in compliance with all federal, state, local and FMC laws, regulations and standards and support broader.  Secondary responsibility is to serve as shift maintenance technician 

2.    Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities

A.    Safety Responsibilities 
•    Support deliberate improvement in Safety, Health, Environmental and Housekeeping Performance (6S)
•    Ensure 100% compliance of assigned EHS requirements, safe completion of life critical activities, process safety, food safety and quality standards
B.    Function Management
•    Continually and deliberately identify and implement improvements in works systems, processes and personal development and as assigned in the achievement of department and/or shift KPI targets
•    Ensure 100% individual training requirement s are met and train other personnel as required by Team Leader, Supervisor or Manager 
•    Ensure preventative, autonomous maintenance and equipment sanitation work practices are executed as required by department
•    Perform maintenance and PMs of the Steam generation and distribution systems
•    Perform Basic Valve maintenance (tightening/adding packing)
•    Replace Steam traps
•    Conduct routine leak surveys (Steam, water, air, oil, etc.)
•    Perform maintenance and PMs of the Air compressors and air distribution systems
•    Assist Maintenance mechanics with Steam system and air system repairs
•    Initiate Work requests for needed maintenance outside their skill level
•    Assist shift operations with Autonomous Maintenance activities
•    Support LOTO and SWPs

3.    Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

A.    Knowledge including: education, qualifications and training 
•    State of Maine High Pressure Boiler Operator’s License or State of Maine Engineer’s License preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months
•    Certified hazardous waste handling and storage or ability to successfully be certified within 90 days of employment.
•    Fork truck experience.
•    Work in a team environment with little supervision.
•    Mechanical Aptitude

C.    Experience
•    Minimum 1-3 years maintenance experience required with two-year trade college degree.
•    Minimum 3 years maintenance work experience required with high school diploma.
•     5 years of industrial maintenance experience, including the tasks listed above for Industrial Truck Technician.
•    Experience in an industrial environment preferred.
•    Knowledge of preventative/predictive maintenance techniques, good welding, fabrication and machining skills, 
•    Mechanical and safety aptitude testing required. 
•    Must be independent, self motivated, and capable of multi-tasking.
