We are currently seeking a Flavorist Trainee based in Shanghai. The trainee program is known for developing world class, high performing Flavor chemists. It includes academic learning, hands-on assignments and events, which dedicated to nurturing the creativity and expertise of future Flavorists through a comprehensive curriculum that covers the fascinating world of flavor language, cutting-edge technology, creative formulation and design.

Main Job Scope:
•    Learn Flavorist School phase curriculum.
•    Support senior flavorists for preparing small experimental samples by closely following recipes developed by the Flavorist and arranging needed tasting.
•    Measure specifications of the flavors.
•    Manage the laboratory’s inventory of flavoring raw materials, ensuring all are stored in correct locations and are within their respective shelf life.

Job Requirements

 

Required Skills:
 
•    Must have a Fascination for Flavor.
•    Great communication skills including written, verbal, and visual. English required; another language is beneficial.
•    Able to present ideas in a clear and logical manner.
•    Intellectually curious with a creative mind that can think innovatively. 
•    Analytical thinker with an attention to detail
•    Good cognitive retention, able to memorize significant amounts of data.
•    Collaborative with strong team engagement skills
•    Basic project management skills
•    Disciplined and process oriented.
•    High threshold for pressure; manages stress well.


 
Required Experience:
 
•    Minimum - Bachelor of Science (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences or Food Engineering/Technology); a Master’s degree is a plus.
•    0-1 years’ internship experiences in similar job / Flavor industry
•    Must pass IFF's internal Sensory Assessment Exam
 
 
Technical Requirements:
 
•    Be able to organize a lab space.
•    Be able to work using good lab practices.
•    Know how to weight out materials using a balance.
•    Know how to calculate and make basic solutions and dilutions.
•    Know how to handle chemicals with the correct Personal Protective Equipment.
•    Knowledge and experience working with MS office systems.
•    Ability to learn in-house formulation software.
