IFF is seeking a highly motivated and results driven Leader to join our Greater Asia Taste division as Regional Category Manager, Savory.


What you will contribute

As Regional Category Manager you will lead the development and execution of the Regional Category Strategy to drive IFF differentiation, project acquisition and growth in the region. You are in charge of the seamless commercialization of innovation, including the supply, pricing, and all G2M (Go-to-Market) aspects. Working closely with the Technical partner you will translate technology into outstanding value proposition supporting our customer brands across the region.


The role offers a mix of strategic and operational tasks and is definitely oriented towards commercialization. The collaborative and team playing skills you bring to the team as well as your ability to manage projects with a multi-functional team will trigger success. You will service different functions across geography to ensure the coordination and execution of strategic growth initiatives. In this exciting role you will be recognized by the value that you deliver at the country level, supporting project acquisition and sales growth through wins.


Your Focus

1. Generating and leveraging market, consumer understanding and awareness

  • Generating, capturing and leveraging market and consumer understanding as well as trends across the markets/countries
  • Build market data, growth projections, flavor potential supporting regional and/or global category initiatives
  • Building relevant insights that can drive category growth and support market needs and category plans
  • Acting as a HUB for market and consumer intelligence for the category in your responsibility
  • Managing knowledge to make it easy to leverage by others

2. Defining and executing the Regional Category Strategy

  • Mappings needs, trends or other insights and translating it into category initiatives that will drive business growth
  • Frame Regional Category initiatives to pitch to REC (Regional Executive Team) for approval
  • Develop technical and commercial plans for approved category Initiatives
  • Mappings needs, trends or other insights and translating it into briefs to global Marketing and Innovation Programs
  • Represents Greater Asia on the global Category Council
  • Ensure project management and execution, including supply, regulatory, quality, pricing and performance measurement aspects
  • Support local commercial roll-out with tailored G2M material, training of customer facing functions and customer engagement
  • Defining the regional KPIs
  • Direct sales accountability on on-going category initiatives

3. Customer engagement

  • Develop a network of customer contacts via local commercial team
  • Support the Country Marketing Managers as required
  • Support Category Initiatives roll-out at key customers
  • Empower sales through the right G2M material and training
  • Manage or support key category projects directly

4. Leverage resources inside the region and from outside in

  • Tracking of local initiatives to leverage across the region
  • Leverage other regional initiatives into Greater Asia
  • Explore collaboration outside IFF to enhance or differentiate IFF offering.

5. Translate Innovation Program outputs into unique and specific regional customer solutions.


Job Requirements

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have minimum overall experience of 7-10 years in the Flavor Industry within a brand management function. You should have solid understanding of Asia Flavors Savory Category with a strong emphasis on Flavor product development or technical expertise in Food & Beverage, Ingredients or Flavors Industry.


A Bachelor Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Business, Marketing or any other relevant discipline from a reputable institute will be essential.


With a proven track record in leading Flavor projects for the Savory category, you possess strong category or brand management capability in Flavor creation, innovation and business development in a B2B or B2C environment. Ideally you should have strong strategic and planning skills to deliver clear and well-structured plans, coupled with project management skills for seamless execution of category initiatives.


You should be capable of influencing in order to deliver in a matrix environment and leveraging other resources.


You are good in building strong customer relations and capable in leading sizeable technical projects that are either proactive or go to market (G2M). You are highly proficient with consumer research, consumer insights, trends generation, capture and leverage.


You should be comfortable working in a B2B environment with a positive, self-driven or results oriented attitude. Strong teamwork collaboration, customer orientation, project management, effective time management skills with proven ability to oversee all assigned projects and meeting deadlines are highly desirable.
