Your Focus
As Senior Scent Design Manager you will be responsible for defining and executing fundamental work and innovation strategies that lead to consumer relevant powders fragrance solutions that win in the marketplace.


Consumer intelligence is the key source to respond to external and internal product and process development opportunities. You will collaborate across functions from all level to contribute creatively to continue to build on existent and new IFF capabilities, development of new themes, fragrance technologies, consumer solutions ideas and new development processes.


The role will see you managing project resources to meet deadlines and investment parameters and, taking on the responsibility of managing Scent Design Managers or Scent Design Associate.

This is a Singapore based role and will report to Scent Design Group Manager.

How you will contribute


  • Collaborate with perfumers and internal technical team to uncover challenges and opportunities for creations and work towards developing new solutions.
  • CI strategy - Define what to learn from consumers to gain competitive advantage and build value proposition
  • Develop and implement innovation strategies that bring competitive product solutions to win business and position IFF as the innovation leader
  • Connect market, customer and consumer needs to identify and trigger business opportunities and provide recommendations that drive business results
  • Following the category strategy and write precise briefings to R&D

Project management

  • Partner with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure fragrance strategies are align to overall business objectives
  • Consistently drive process, discipline and effective execution to bring the desired speed to market
  • Execution of the olfactive strategy by providing creative direction and olfactive guidance to Perfumers in order to stimulate creativity
  • Monitor results and have the agility to change the course of a project when needed
  • Good understanding of the big picture and use this knowledge to define and establish competitive solutions / strategies
  • Understand all innovation and technical drivers which impact olfactive capabilities
  • Maintain regional or global visibility, internally and externally

Customer focus and teamwork 

  • Drive the creative process by ensuring strong working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Document learning and cascade to the extended team. Present market trends, fragrance trends and CI analysis, in partnership with relevant disciplines
  • Communicate effectively about fragrances including olfactive rationale for fragrance submissions in relation to trends, brands and competitive analysis


People Management

  • Manage Scent Design Manager(s) and guarantee clear development plans, building on people’s strength and mentor multi-disciplinary talent
  • Support project team members in their development 

Job Requirements

What you will need to be successful

  • Master’s or Bachelor degree in Perfumery, Science, Chemistry, Consumer Science, Product Research, Chemical or any other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 8-10 years working experience in the industry in an International environment
  • Excellent Olfactive communication skills which supports the overall creative process – discriminate, describe (association) and odour memory
  • Team leading or management experience
  • Ability to effectively identify potential fragrances based on market relevance.
  • Manage the execution of the Olfactive strategy by providing creative direction and (Olfactive) guidance to Perfumers in order to stimulate creativity.
  • Solid understanding of functional and technical capabilities, including knowledge of the consumer and different markets.
  • Proficiency of data mining, analysis, insight generation and drawing conclusions.  
  • Excellent influencing skills across all levels 
  • Strong project management skills, disciplined and process oriented.
  • Open minded, willing to embrace diversity, strong agility.
  • Ability to deliver in a fast pace environment and deliver under pressure.
  • Curious approach - enjoy difficult challenges.
  • Creates compelling communication to teams or stakeholders to drive strategy.
  • Builds effective teams, including recruiting, hiring, developing and retaining talents.
  • Team player, ability to motivates others towards a common goal to achieve results 
  • Other language proficiency is a plus on top of fluency in English.
  • Willingness to commit to travel
