Batch Set Up Operator - St. Joseph, MO

 

NATURE OF WORK

 

Responsibilities consist of preparing and staging individual batches for Production, and general warehouse maintenance and inventory control.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

 

 

  • Using our automated inventory management system, ensure that all physical movement of Raw Materials is accurately documented and processed on the computer.
  • Utilize the computer system capabilities in pulling Raw Materials for Production orders.
  • Apply knowledge pertaining to the chemical/physical characteristics of Raw Materials in the storing and transferring activities.
  • Apply understanding of our automated cycle count system to perform periodic counts.
  • Apply knowledge of company safety and sanitation policies to support Operations objectives, including the operation of mobile equipment (i.e., Forklift) safely.
  • Utilize HACCP philosophy and procedures in everyday work routine.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

 

  • To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must have a high school diploma or equivalent education. In addition, the incumbent must have good organizational and math skills and be able to work independently. Also requires ability to follow verbal and/or written procedures/directions accurately.  The ability to be licensed to operate a fork truck is required.  Previous warehousing experience of six months is preferred.  Exposure to computerized warehousing operations would be extremely helpful.
  • Must have the knowledge to understand Production orders and to setup and stage orders correctly.
  • Must be able to verify counts, quality of material, and accuracy of labeling on raw materials and batch setup sheets.
  • Must possess and exhibit good verbal communication skills to communicate with all departments and coworkers to alert management of problems or needs to ensure proper continuous operations.
  • Must understand and follow all plant policies concerning safety/emergency, conduct, maintenance, sanitation, and current procedures designed for the department.
  • Compliance with all company policies is required.

 

SCOPE OF POSITION

 

The Batch Setup Person reports directly to the Batch Set Up Supervisor and has no direct supervisory responsibilities. The incumbent makes limited decisions regarding own work. This position requires discretion, but most activities are covered by specific guidelines.  A typical problem-solving activity would be to determine and ensure the proper batch preparation for production units.  Incumbent must be able to work overtime as needed.
Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.

 


WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This position operates in a warehouse environment and storage facility 100 percent of the time and requires continual lifting of items weighing 50 pounds or more. Environmental conditions include exposure to hand and mechanical tools and machinery. You must wear safety clothing, safety glasses and a protective mask when required.  Hazardous materials training is a requirement.
