The Process Engineer will use their knowledge of engineering, chemistry, food science, microbiology, biotechnology, and other sciences to successfully collaborate with our team. Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

•  Propose, prepare, conduct, direct, and analyze operations data, experiments and plant trials
•  Research and/or develop new processes to support new plant-based protein product introduction 
•  Improve existing processes to increase productivity
•  Provide engineering expertise to improve production quality 
•  Accurately document research activities and communicate results to stakeholders 
•  Maintain/update manufacturing procedures for existing products 
•  Work in all stages of process development, from pilot plants to commercial facilities, developing innovations and coordinating product rollouts in extrusion and spray drying facilities
•  Demonstrate leadership behavior that is consistent with IFF Core Values
•  Adhere to regulatory, good manufacturing practices and food safety requirements

Job Requirements

 A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical, Biochemical, Food, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline 
•  1+ years of experience in process engineering
•  Previous experience with one or more of the following unit operations- extraction, separation, thermal processing, extrusion, or drying
•  Strong verbal and written communication skills
•  Demonstrated ability to collect, process, and analyze data
•  Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment
•  Strong time management and organizational skills
•  Computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
•  Willing and able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
•  The ability to work in a commercial plant environment that could include high temperatures
•  Willing and able to sit or stand for extended periods, including climbing stairs
•  Willing and able to travel up to 30% of the time, including both domestic and international (Covid regulations permitting)

The following are preferred: 

•  5+ years of experience in process engineering 
•  Previous processing engineering experience in the food industry
•  Six Sigma experience
•  Statistical knowledge, including the use of Minitab
