Job Description

Summary:
The Plant Manager reports to the Manufacturing Supply Chain Leader for the Litesse Business and is responsible for ensuring that all plant operations are conducted safely, responsibly, profitably, and productively.  This includes directing operations, support services, and all matters involving governmental agencies, community groups, area business organizations, and the news media.

Key Elements:
•    Coordinate and supervise all plant operations.  
•    Drive strong safety program for employees.  
•    Comply with environmental regulations, procedures and corporate practices.  Achieve and maintain plant certification in ISO 14001 system.
•    Drive strong quality management practices.  Authorize disposition of non-conforming product.  Review and approve quality document and data control procedures.  Participate on the product recall team.
•    Protect plant readiness and worth through responsible design, maintenance and investment strategies and policies.
•    Approve product code and finished goods specifications, new product implementation, and purchase orders.
•    Review and approve the Medium Range Objectives (MRO) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP), cost standards, service assessments, and all other aspects of plant financial performance.  Seek approval for manufacturing resources to meet forecast needs.
•    Compare actual to planned costs of operations, adjust schedules or expenses as required to adhere to the budget.  Complete special reports and requests for information.
•    Ensure that personnel practices are fair and consistent with corporate and governmental requirements.
•    Maintain contact with all employees to ensure high morale and harmonious work relationships. Recommend departmental manning, review job specifications and approve hiring recommendations.
•    Review performance of all employees, and establish fair and equitable compensation, developmental, training, and advancement practices.
•    Meet with department managers to establish, plan, and schedule plant and individual goals and objectives.
•    Develop and approve procedures for handling inspections and requests from regulatory agencies such as FDA, EPA, OSHA, etc.  
•    Evaluate and promote site purchases of land and equipment necessary to sustain production capability.
•    Work with local business, civic groups, and news media to establish and maintain a positive corporate image.
•    Mentor department managers to develop senior management candidates, and staff for becoming potential department managers. 
•    Work with corporate and external counsel on matters pertaining to zoning, acquisitions, sales, trespass, liability, taxes, and the use of acreage.
•    Assumes responsibilities of Quality Manager in the absence of Quality Manager.
•    Assumes responsibilities of Production Manager in the absence of Production Manager.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
•    A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Science with 10+ years industrial and professional experience.
•    At least 5 years supervisory experience.  Operations management preferred.
•    The ability to conduct briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives is required.  
•    Incumbent must be a problem solver of complex issues.
•    Strong interpersonal and people leadership skills are required.
•    Previous operations experience with Safety, Food Safety, ISO 14001, and PSM regulations is desired.
