Your Focus
As Logistics Specialist, you will manage shipment of goods to meet customer requirements and oversee the supply of products is delivered to the assigned location in a timely manner. You will correspond and liaise with regional sites or manufacturing plants, as well as broker/forwarder and warehouse. Ensuring customs clearance, inbound transportation are well organized, you will follow up on outbound transportation and manage customer and business expectations by addressing requests or issues. 


This is a Tokyo based position and will report to the Japan, Logistics Manager.


How You Will Contribute

  • Arrange the import/export shipments to meet customer’s requirements and supply products to the right location, in accordance with the timeline in the right quantity, including the outbound shipment in domestic area from our warehouse.    
  • Correspondence with IFF overseas plant, vendor, broker and warehouse to deliver products to customer or warehouse, as per agreed delivery date with the desired level of customer service.
  • Manage short/wrong shipment or defective parts issues, follow up on issues with the plants through internal process and systems, and if needed, arrange the replacement. For matters requiring technical team support, reassign the request to the relevant sales or quality department. 
  • Lead annual inventory stock count at warehouses to avoid difference/discrepancy between physical stock and data on SAP system. 
  • Oversee Warehouse and Transporter performance evaluation and perform first party audit.
  • Follow up with source on shipment status and keep stakeholders informed. 
  • Utilize SFDC tool to register logistic requests or issues and follow up on investigation and RCA.
  • Actively contribute in logistics related projects like EDI with warehouse, track and trace, logistics cost saving initiatives, warehouse footprint optimization, shipment consolidations etc and participate in project meetings.

Job Requirements

What you will need to be successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or any other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of trading business experience from relevant industry.
  • Strong understanding of logistics process, warehousing, transportation, import clearance and outbound shipment.
  • Understanding of Warehouse procedures regarding inward, storage and outbound.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in local language and ability to speak, write and read English (more than TOEIC 730) is required.
  • Knowledge or experience in SAP will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite apart from Application related IT, ERP System or Application.
  • Logical, methodical, analytical thought process, with strong attention to details and accuracy.
  • Proactive, self-motivation, ability to engage across all levels, countries and stakeholders. 
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize and work within tight deadlines.
  • Team player, able to work effectively with cross functional team members.
