The Director, Advanced Analytics will be responsible for applying quantitative methodologies, techniques, and tools to develop best in class insights that inform corporate decision making and revenue generation. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to identify business opportunities, goals and objectives, building quantitative models, and interpreting the results of those models for internal and external consumption. You understand the intricacies of the manufacturing industry and will be a thought leader, bring new ideas and approaches, helping define our research and analytics offerings. You will partner with business units and corporate functions to implement/automate/operationalize models that will make you a significant contributor to the overall success of the company.

  • Obsessively organized – harmonizing, rescaling, and cleaning data for statistical techniques.
  • An interpreter – easily able to determine if business objectives can be met using a quantitative analytical approach, developing hypotheses about anticipated outcomes; reviewing results of qualitative models, identifying trends and issues to develop alternatives to support business objectives.
  • A creator – who loves to build custom models leveraging advanced statistical methods, such as: casual and predictive modeling, attribution, forecasting, data mining, simulation, and/or optimization.

You will spend your time doing…

 

  • Conduct research on cutting-edge techniques and tools in machine learning/deep learning/artificial intelligence
  • Articulate a vision and roadmap for the exploitation of data as a valued corporate asset
  • Evangelize best practices to analytics and digital product teams 
  • Perform large-scale experimentation and build data-driven models to answer business questions
  • Influence leadership and digital product teams through presentation of data-based recommendations
  • Lead and mentor a team of Data Scientists and Advance Analytics Analysts providing opportunities for ongoing development of technical skills and business knowledge
  • Assess, benchmark and select data analytics technologies to be added to the big data platforms
  • Own development of business cases to prioritize business requests and secure funding as needed. Ensure post implementation review to gather learnings and understand true business impact
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and fully leverage the networked organization to secure resources and talent needed to deliver against the roadmap and ad-hoc requests
  • Act as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent
  • Collaborate with the key stakeholders, other product development groups and software vendors to identify and define solutions for complex business and technical requirements.
     

Job Requirements

 

Required Skills…

 

  • Graduate degree in Mathematics, Data Science or other quantitative field or Computer Science required
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science preferred
  • Experience in data mining
  • Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
  • Experience in R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
  • Experience using and understanding business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop)
  • Experience working with various cloud providers (Google, Microsoft and Amazon)
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders and handle conflicting priorities
  • Ability to understand and communicate the larger picture behind how big data drives a business
  • Exposure to many technology competencies like: Snowflake, Talend (Data Fabric, Data Catalog), Erwin, Neo4j, SAP (BW/BI, SAC, HANA, ECC, etc.), Microsoft (Power BI, SQL Server, Azure), Theobald Software 
  • Analytical mind and business acumen
