Job Description


It’s an exciting time to be part of IFF! We are looking for our next Senior Cloud Engineer to become a part of our industry-leading global, IT organization. As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will provide architectural oversight, engineering, and successful deployment of applications into cloud environments. You will participate in overall cloud strategy and collaborate with application teams to ensure cloud artifacts alignment to overall business objectives. 


With the largest Research and Development team in our industry, the Senior Cloud Engineer will design, deploy and maintain advanced, high performance, serverless, GPU enabled specialty solutions; designed on IaaS and PaaS services supporting thousands of customers globally.  Your full-stack engineering skills will be fully leveraged to deliver these innovative solutions in a highly global hybrid IT landscape.  IFF, a global manufacturer, will challenge your skills and contributions to extend to IOT and other Operations Technology (OT) needs.  As a large SAP ERP shop, you will lead the path to SAP S4 HANA in a cloud first design paradigm.  In concert with management team, you will provide technical guidance and oversight to global outsourced partners, prioritizing projects and

  • Participating in DevOps strategy meetings, lead roadmap creation. Implementing toolsets / standards utilization of Azure DevOPS pipeline and/or AWS CodePipline.
  • Partnering with R&D build high performance computing clusters using IaaS opensource tools, PaaS solutions such as AWS Genomics, ML on SageMaker, and AWS Kinesis.
  • Managing multiple opensource database (RDBMS) and NoSQL solutions such as MySQL, Postgres, Elasticserach, GraphDB, and others
  • Working with open source configuration management tools to develop the automated deployment of virtual server instances and environments in AWS using various DevOps toolchain, such as Puppet, Ansible, ServiceNow, Jenkins, Docker, native AWS tools, Terraform, lambda, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Building and designing secure, well-instrumented, highly available, and strictly automated reproducible infrastructure. Optimize infrastructure deployments for speed, cost, availability and scale. 
  • Constructing, maintains and tests staging systems to validate product/feature functionality as well as load testing of system using various test harnesses. 
  • Participating in agile SDLC delivering products and solutions with scrum methodologies.
  • Conducting research on emerging Cloud and DevOps technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility. 
  • Participating in technical incident management and troubleshooting escalations, as needed. 
  • Troubleshooting systems, software, failures and make changes to improve current automated performance following established change management practices. 
  • Overseeing and monitoring Usage charges utilizing CloudHealth.  Reviewing billing accuracy towards eliminating wasteful dormant resources and/or systems.
  • Updating and maintaining Cloud documentation, including strategy, DevOps engineering documents, change control, trouble tickets, procedures, and other documentation. 
  • Constantly researching academia and scientific community to develop proof-of-concepts and use cases for continuous innovation of R&D solutions leveraging cloud.

Job Requirements


Required Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or electronics and communication engineering, as well as at least five years of relevant experience. 
  • 7+ years of experience in information systems operations environment. 
  • Experience in building and delivering solution for large scale batch data processing using AWS technologies such as SageMaker, Kinesis, Genoimics and Lambda
  • Excellent understanding of typical multi-tier architectures: web servers, caching, application servers, load balancers, and storage. 
  • Strong system administration (Linux/Unix or Windows) at the command-line level. 
  • Strong scripting skillset. 
  • Hands-on experience with system and service configurations, installation and support strategies of system components (at both site and enterprise levels) for implementation and maintenance support. 
  • Experience with Cloud containers (Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS EKS)
  • Experience with open source configuration management tools extensively (Ansible/Terraform preferred) 
  • Experience with ServiceNow, possibly their Cloud Automation ITOM tools. 
  • AWS Hosting, including VPC, EC2, ELB, and RDS, Virtual Networking Topologies, PowerShell/DSC, BASH, PHP, Windows, SQL Server (deployment and monitoring), Linux, AWSCLI, and more.
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices. 
  • Experience with templates and other configurable items to enable automation. 
  • Familiarity with deployment techniques (and tools) in a distributed environment. 
  • In-depth understanding of monitoring technologies such as Dynatrace, Solarwinds, Cloudwatch Datadog and Cloudtrail.
  • Design of self-healing, auto-scaling and fault-tolerant services
  • Understanding of stateless and loosely coupled distributed applications. 
  • Familiarity developing with RESTful API interfaces. 
  • Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases. 
  • Understanding of agile software development lifecycle methodologies and Scrum/Kanban 
  • Experience with core LAN/WAN network technologies, route tables, access control lists, firewalls, NAT, HTTP, DNS, IP and OSI Network. 
  • Experience in a hybrid on-premises and AWS/Azure development and production environment is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to GCP is a plus.
