As a Senior Energy Expert in Digital Operations you are part of our digital team that drives energy improvement decisions at our US manufacturing sites. You are our central energy expert engaging closely with our manufacturing sites subject matter experts and work together with our digital project leaders & Energy focusing Data Scientists. 


You will have end-to-end responsibility initiating the projects with the sites, screening improvement options and taking options for fast implementation, while preparing implementation and the functional specifications for options requiring capital expenditures.


You will be in an agile development environment with high expectations for rapid delivery of prototypes, we execute fast with a time to value less than 4 months. Here, you are a strong team player that understands, digests and qualifies the input you receive during the project execution. 


Your long experience in working with manufacturing sites enables you to face the required facts and trust in the dialogs. You are comfortable impacting our business directly by the work you do. 


Key responsibilities:


  • Develop & implement energy measure for our sites 
  • Develop models together with the Data Scientist and Subject matter experts 
  • Host dialogs ton real time User Interfaces to take the models to Operators
  • Develop the functional specifications for larger projects
  • Guide taking the larger project to detailed design.
  • Measure the impact of the work.
  • Leverage the improvement measures to the broader energy community of IFF

Job Requirements


Key Requirements: 


The successful candidate will possess:


  • Demonstrated experiences in engaging with operators, supervisors, & management.
  • Demonstrated experiences in establishing business cases and preparing technical specifications for improvement measures
  • Working professionally with a multitude of manufacturing sites with diverse unit operations for more than 10 years in preferably in different regions (EMEA, LA, NA, Asia)
  • PhD, Master’s degree, or Bachelors’ Degree within Chemical Engineering or Energy Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience improving performance of units and systems (covering such as chemical reactors, boilers, compressors, chillers, cooling towers & steam/condensate systems) 
  • Demonstrated experience with ISO 50.001


In order to work with our manufacturing sites some travel is required 50% of the time
