Our business provides world class probiotics, proteins, emulsifiers/sweeteners, cultures, drug excipients, enzymes, and preservatives. Nutrition & Biosciences is seeking a Microbiology Research Associate Investigator for our Biochemistry and Research Application Team who will work in the laboratory to execute technical programs focused on household & personal care, textiles, and hygiene markets in Wilmington, DE.


Typical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Basic microbiology techniques: media/buffer preparation; microbial culture preparation; determining viable cell counts; familiarity with common equipment such as single (multi) channel pipettes, autoclave, centrifuge, and more; awareness of aseptic and biosafety procedures
  • Basic formulation techniques: sample preparation/formulation; wet chemistry; measurement of physical properties
  • Work with scientists and research associates in a team-based environment to support and drive projects to completion
  • Generating data, maintaining electronic databases, documenting results in laboratory notebooks and reports
  • Providing technical help and troubleshooting for existing laboratory processes and instrumentation
  • Assisting in the installation and validation of new equipment
  • Training new and existing personnel on equipment and procedures

Job Requirements


The following are required:


  • Masters or Bachelor of Science degree (in a Biological Science field such as microbiology, molecular biology, biotechnology, etc.)
  • A minimum of 1 year working experience in a laboratory setting is required
  • Knowledge of basic microbiology and chemistry techniques
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft applications
  • Demonstrated self-starter with ability to balance multiple projects on different timelines 
  • Demonstrated ability and passion for working within a highly collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills, independent problem solving, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated problem solving and quick learner with initiative and capable of independent work


Preferred:  Experience with basic molecular biology techniques.
