YOUR FOCUS

 

R&D is a key value driver of the IFF strategy and has the capability of delivering breakthrough technologies that fuel future growth. In this global role, you will be a critical partner for our global R&D and business leaders to deliver excellence in R&D portfolio and financial analysis to support strong and sustainable business decisions for a future-fit IFF. In close collaboration with global leaders and cross-function teams, you will define critical strategic levers, build plans of action and drive successful execution. As part of the IFF R&D Portfolio and Project Management Office (PPMO) you will have the opportunity to:

 

  • work closely with cross-function leaders and teams to support portfolios & programs in any of the IFF Business Units, Ventures, and regions;
  • manage portfolios & programs effectively and efficiently in alignment with business strategy to drive commercial results and to enhance the innovation return on investment;

 

The critical success criteria are to drive sound cross function partnership engagement to deliver the portfolios & programs according to plan (time and budget) and in alignment with the strategic goals of the IFF business.

 

How You Will Contribute

 

  • Manage a portfolio of projects focusing on product development within product lines or across business lines, including project initiation, driving project timelines, recognizing interdependencies, risk management, leading contingency planning, removing barriers and escalation;
  • Act as the single point of contact and communicate effectively with key stakeholders globally to ensure an End-to-End project plan in place to successfully launch our new product(s) in the target market;
  • Concurrently manage numerous programs, projects and cross-functional initiatives that may be local or remote, and continuously communicate with stakeholders to ensure content is aligned with business strategy;
  • Implement governance standards across the portfolio;
  • Liaise with Global PPMO team as a source of guidance or advice to ensure project management framework;
  • Closely connect with Global PPMO, R&D, and Innovation team, organize regular reviews and engage cross-function to drive progress;
  • Apply disciplined project management & portfolio tools to achieve objectives and financial analyses for decision making, execute projects through the formal tools, including Six Sigma, Lean & Agile methodology;
  • Create and maintain comprehensive portfolio documentation;
  • Utilize business acumen to provide the right portfolio oversight and create compelling visual communications for executive stakeholders;
  • Ensure valid and updated project metrics, meet technical and budget aims of the project;
  • Secure funding and track correct resourcing (both commercially and technically), including oversight of 3rd party vendors, contractors, consultants;
  • Mitigate risk at project and portfolio levels, including but not limited to regulatory, safety & FTO.
  • Work with project teams to implement process improvements and further business development as required
     

Job Requirements

 

What You Will Need to Be Successful

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, major in science, engineering, innovation management, or business relevant;
  • At least eight years working experience with a successful track record of technical projects from early stage to late stage and the leadership required to accomplish this project progression;
  • Experience or knowledge of food industry, bioscience, or equivalent industries are highly preferred;
  • Commercial experience on new product introductions is highly preferred;
  • Ability to quickly understand significant assumptions or uncertainties within programs and accurately communicate this to multiple audiences and drive mitigation actions as needed;
  • Demonstrated ability in partnering with peers and teams to drive critical success factors;
  • Solution-oriented attitude, contributing to success in reaching complex business targets and deadlines;
  • Demonstrated networking skills combined with a strong flair for communication;
  • Positive and constructive personal approach and influence leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational, structural, and know-how regarding interpersonal skills, including confrontation skills, alignment skills, supportive skills, and leading change management;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a virtual environment with use of digital tools;
  • Ability to work in different cultural contexts successfully, including flexible hours to work with teams in other global regions;
  • Knowledge of project management or portfolio management is preferred;
  • Ability to complete simple, yet comprehensive reports for executive stakeholders using PowerBI or similar


Position will be based in our Wilmington, Delaware office, with some flexibility for remote work.

 

Some travel required, potential globally (10%)
